Riyadh has witnessed a remarkable surge in community-driven initiatives, reflecting the city’s dedication to fostering civic engagement and enhancing the quality of life for its residents.
Empowering Residents Through the Ezwah Platform
In October 2025, the Riyadh Region Municipality introduced the ‘Ezwah’ Community Participation Platform. This digital initiative aims to strengthen the concept of partnership and social responsibility, enabling residents to actively contribute to the city’s development. Through ‘Ezwah,’ individuals can participate in volunteer initiatives, social activities, and events, promoting integration among various sectors and enhancing community engagement.
Madinty Offices: Strengthening Neighborhood Bonds
Complementing the ‘Ezwah’ platform, the Municipality launched ‘Madinty’ Offices across various neighborhoods. These offices serve as interactive platforms, hosting workshops, discussion sessions, and interactive initiatives targeting different age groups. Activities such as children’s art workshops, women’s embroidery sessions, and youth discussions on entrepreneurial opportunities aim to foster a sense of community and cooperation among residents.
Record-Breaking Volunteerism
December 2025 marked a significant milestone with the ‘Riyadh Volunteers’ initiative. This unified volunteer day brought together a record number of participants, leading to the Municipality achieving a Guinness World Record for the highest number of volunteer registrations in a single week. This accomplishment underscores the growing culture of volunteerism in Riyadh and the community’s commitment to environmental and developmental initiatives.
Innovative Charitable Initiatives
During the Eid al-Adha season, the Municipality launched the ‘One-Third of the Sacrifice’ service on its official app. This initiative facilitates the donation of sacrificial meat to those in need, streamlining the process for donors and ensuring efficient distribution through authorized charitable organizations. The service reflects the city’s commitment to social solidarity and organized charitable work.
Celebrating Cultural Heritage
Riyadh’s cultural scene is vibrant, with events like the Traditional Arts Festival bringing Saudi Arabia’s heritage to life. Held in Diriyah, the festival offers a mix of performances, music, and traditional rhythms from across the Kingdom, providing residents and visitors an immersive experience into the country’s cultural roots.
These initiatives collectively highlight Riyadh’s dedication to fostering a sense of community, promoting volunteerism, and celebrating cultural heritage, all contributing to a more engaged and cohesive society.
